In this sermon, we begin our Advent series looking at the rich heritage we’ve been given by entering into this season of preparation for the coming of Christ! We see that the longing of the human heart is ultimately satisfied in Christ.

In this sermon, Jesus teaches us and examples for us who our neighbor is, why generosity breaks down with our neighbor, and how we are to love our neighbor in sacrificial and generous ways. 

This week we’re continuing in our generosity series, looking at how this practice has been broken. Because of this brokenness, rather than living with a “healthy eye” that sees how abundant and generous God is and choosing to trust him, we don’t. Because of sin, we all now live, in varying degrees, with an unhealthy eye that is always seeing the world with some level of scarcity. We are always fighting this battle of wanting more yet never being able to find ourselves satisfied.

This week, we are kicking off a new series on the practice of Generosity. We will begin by building our foundation on the reality that God is generous and his generosity is able to be seen all around us. 

In this sermon, we will see that suffering is real in this age and any age, but John gives us a stunning, hope-filled vision of the New Heavens and New Earth - God’s ultimate answer to our deepest longings.
